Welcome to Mesquite Elementary I am humbled and honored to lead and serve as the principal of Mesquite Elementary. As a part of Gilbert Public Schools since 1999 I have had the opportunity to serve as a teacher, instructional coach, and dean. The majority of my time has been spent in the classroom and it is this time that I am most grateful to be able to draw from as an instructional leader. Mesquite Elementary has always been a special place to me as it is where I completed my student teaching and began my teaching career. I am grateful for the opportunity to return to Mesquite and give back to a community that gave so much to me as a beginning educator.
Mesquite Elementary believes in developing strong relationships between students, staff, and community. Student safety is best achieved when strong relationships built on trust are formed. Rigorous and relevant lessons are the goal each day as students and staff work together to achieve academic success. We are truly better together and Mesquite Elementary is a community that lives this out each day!

Hello! My name is Kendyl Acton, and I am so excited to be part of the Kindergarten team here at Mesquite Elementary. I have been teaching for five years, and there is truly no place I’d rather be than in a Kindergarten classroom!

From across every GPS school and department, 44 employees were recognized as Employee of the Year for their leadership, dedication, and the positive impact they have on our students and staff.

At GPS, students and staff are not defined by data points. Instead, the district aims to connect, create, and care, using data as a tool to support every learner. During the February 10 Board Meeting, district leaders shared evidence of academic growth in literacy, mathematics, science, and advanced coursework, reflecting how educators are working together to make data-informed decisions to support students. As the year continues, this work remains ongoing, with teams across the district focused on building forward and strengthening student success.
